Description
Energetic winemaker Manuel Ruiz Pedreira has plenty of experience, having worked several vintages in Germany, as well as for renowned Bodegas Faustino. Together with his father - also a well-respected winemaker - Manuel has built on the work of founder Don Manuel Quintano. Quintano introduced Bordeaux winemaking techniques such as barrel-ageing to the Rioja region via the Labastida estate way back in 1787.
This flagship wine is 100% Tempranillo from the terraced vineyards of the Rioja Alta where vines are up to 60 years' old. The wine was aged in second and third use American oak barrels for 36 months.
A rich wine with plenty of cherry and blackberry fruit, notes of caramel and roasted coffee beans.
