Description A rare parcel of mature red from South Australia. It uses the now classic Aussie combination of the Rhône's spicy Shiraz with Bordeaux's cassis-rich Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is a result of our 'mate' Bob Berton having his ear close to the ground and hearing about this great parcel of wine that needed a home ... and fast. Fast because it's a tricky time for Australian wine with first a surplus of wine (so much so in 2006, that many grapes were left on the vine) and now a drought! Bob found the wine at the little Ral Ral Creek winery in Renmark, South Australia. The cellar's name means red mud in Aborigine, which gives a clear indication of the soil of the area.
The wine is named after Harry "The Breaker' Morant (1864 - 1902), who once resided in Renmark and was an Anglo-Australian drover, horseman and soldier whose renowned skill with horses earned him the nickname "The Breaker". Articulate, intelligent, and well-educated, he was also a published poet and became one of the better-known "back-block bards" of the 1890s, with the bulk of his work appearing in The Bulletin magazine.
