Description
Bodegas Baroja is a multi medal-winning cellar we discovered a couple of years ago. Extremely impressed by their wines and their energy, we have commissioned an exclusive Rioja from them for the last three vintages.

The bodega was founded in 1964 and, from the start, the cellar was clear that great wine could only be made from the highest quality fruit. All its vineyards lie in the Rioja Alavesa's Elvillar area, protected from northerly winds from the Sierra Cantabria mountains. Limestone-based soils provide excellent drainage for the vines and concentrated flavours in the mostly Tempranillo grapes.

From the outstanding, 5-Star 2005 vintage, this wine is an exclusive winemaker's selection of pure Tempranillo, harvested from some of the bodega's oldest vines. As a result, the wine has superb concentration and length of flavour and the structure to age for around five years. Four months in small American and French oak casks has lent the wine gentle tones of toasty vanilla and coconut with more subtle wood tones from the French barrels.
