Description Casablanca has fast become known as a fine wine haven, and our friends at Tarapacá saw potential for producing world-class Pinot Noir in this cool-climate region, way before most.
Casablanca is special because it's close to the Pacific, the vineyards coming under the influence of the Antarctic Humboldt current, which flows north up the coast of Chile. The Humboldt brings cold nights and morning mists, and they're followed by the heat of the Chilean sun. That's the perfect environment for lovely, intense, ripe grapes.
Especially if they're Pinot Noir - the highly strung red grape of Burgundy. If it's too hot, Pinot goes flabby and forgettable, too cold and it's fruitless and dull. But in ideal climates like Casablanca (or Burgundy in a good year) it delivers matchless, silky charm, and Cristian, Ed and Javier have delivered a beauty here.
Rich colour with abundant aromas of fresh, ripe red fruits. Soft and rounded, with pure red cherry and strawberry flavours. Long-lasting and balanced - a great choice for game and grilled steaks.
