Description
Sumptuous speciality of Chianti master Paolo Masi Paolo calls this his 'mini Chianti' but in truth it towers above many Chiantis - it's surprising how many churn out of Italy's 'wine factories'. The Masi estate in Rufina is anything but - rolling hills, cypress trees, rows of prized old Sangiovese (the grape of Chianti) and a cellar revitalised since Paolo graduated from his wine degree top of the class.
Paolo works with "great enthusiasm and care" (Gambero Rosso) - evident in every succulent mouthful of this Sangiovese. It comes from a cracking vintage too - "growers are right to be euphoric over the quality of 2007" (Marco Pallanti, Chianti Classico President).
Deep ruby colour and seductive plum, damson and chocolaty aromas. Masses of rich, dark cherry and forest fruit flavours - very smooth and moreish.
