Description

Our buyers have been out on the ground in Spain, searching out the very best wines … their hard work and persistence paid off with unique access to this rarest of gems, Arco del Castillo Gran Reserva 1999.

It comes from Yecla - an up-and-coming region singled about by Robert Parker for its "astonishing value". The Castaño family has been making wine at this cellar since the 1900's and they are the 'Kings of Monastrell' - a deeply coloured, intense variety that's more commonly know as Mourvedre in France where it's used in such famously big wines as Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Matured to mellow perfection in barrel and bottle, this seductive, spicy red has rich plum and damson flavours plus a luxurious sweet-oaky finish ... you'd pay double for Rioja of this quality!
