Lornano Le Macchie Chianti Classico Riserva 2013
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Wine supremo Franco Bernabei is the man to see if you're looking for top-shelf Italian wines. He's renowned up and down Italy's 'boot' for his winemaking prowess (and nicknamed 'Mr. Sangiovese' by the Italian press). And his creations can fetch $100-plus (and far more) a bottle. With good reason too, as you'll taste with this premium find (which is a relative bargain compared to some of his other releases).
It was made at Fattoria di Lornano’s beautifully restored farmhouse in the heart of Chianti Classico, where Franco worked closely with the Taddei family (who've farmed their land since 1904) to make the most of the very highly rated 2013 vintage. His pick from their property? Beautifully ripened Sangiovese from their famed Le Macchie vineyard. Franco also chose to age the wine in large, traditional oak botte, making this release a luxurious step up from his ‘regular’ Le Macchie Chianti Classico.
Judging from last vintage’s critical acclaim – 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and a gold medal at Mundus Vini – we’re very excited for you to try the 2013. You’re in for intense aromas and flavors of toast, exotic spice, and black fruits with a ripe and savory palate of black cherry and coffee.
A perfect ‘special occasion’ wine – guaranteed to wow at the dinner table.
