Virginie Taittinger has been dubbed ‘the princess of Champagne’ in the press, thanks to her famous family’s long history in the region. Now, she’s struck out on her own, and you can be among an exclusive few in the U.S. to taste this stylish Champagne.
For 21 years, Virginie worked side-by-side with her father at the family’s legendary Champagne house, whose top cuvées fetch $100s and have been described as “devastatingly beautiful” (The Wine Advocate). For her U.S. debut, Virginie chose us to distribute this tiny-production release (only 132 cases made). Today, we have a new shipment to share with you.
As you’d expect, it’s very, very good. A blend of two thirds Pinot Noir, one third Chardonnay, it was made with 85% Premier and Grand Cru fruit, cellar-aged for over three years, and is delicious right now. Look for notes of brioche, lemon curd, and candied strawberry, all introduced by a lovely, fresh stream of fine bubbles.
