Beyond the Label

Saint-Émilion is one of Bordeaux’s most revered appellations, and we’re thrilled to bring you this special exclusive.

It’s a rare Library Release from 2008 and the magnificent Château de Lussac, located in the Saint-Émilion satellite village of Lussac. The estate was founded in 1876, and the Laviale family has proudly looked after it since 2000. This wine is their Grand Vin: a classic blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc grown in pristine clay-limestone vineyards (which are ideal for ripening these grape varieties). The grapes are hand-sorted, and the wine was carefully aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.

Once it was bottled, they tucked it away in the cellar, only to be released when it had reached its peak drinking window. Well, the time has come—and this Saint-Émilion is beautifully mellow and ready to impress.

At 15+ years of age, it has a remarkably dense and vibrant core of fruit (black currant and plum), with secondary notes of tobacco leaf and leather. The tannins are mellow, and the wine is firing on all cylinders. It’s an ideal selection for a special meal or celebration. To release its full aromas and flavors, we recommend decanting this wine 60 minutes before serving.

Treat yourself to this mature Saint-Émilion today.
