McPherson Don't Tell Gary Shiraz 2018
You can enjoy this rich Australian Shiraz on one condition: don’t tell Gary, McPherson’s Chief Financial Officer, what a great deal you received. From the acclaimed Grampians district and aged in expensive French oak, it should cost much more.

Beyond the Label

Founded in 1968, McPherson is an old and celebrated name in Australian wine – and the estate behind some of our most popular Aussie reds. Just wait until you taste their latest masterpiece. Last vintage, it debuted to two impressive, 95-point ratings, and the 2018 release arrives sporting gold medals from two top shows.

And to think, it almost didn't exist ...

When head winemaker Jo Nash found a premium parcel of Shiraz from the acclaimed Grampians district, she knew she had to secure it. She brought the grapes back to the winery, worked her magic, then tucked the wine away in ridiculously expensive French oak barrels for 12 months. It was a true labor of love, but Jo worried that McPherson’s Chief Financial Officer, Gary, might not approve ... so she kept the wine a secret until it was ready to release.

Here’s our local expert, Dan, on what to expect in the glass: “Ripe, black fruit on the nose; all mulberries and blackcurrants, with a touch of clove and black pepper. The palate is bold with a welcome freshness. Satin-smooth and pulsing with blackberry and toasty oak. Beautifully balanced; very elegant. Shiraz at its finest.”
