The Black Stump is an Australian legend that wins legions of raving fans and major acclaim from critics and competitions across the globe. We were thrilled when winemaker Alan Kennett decided to make this limited-edition Reserve version…and we think you will be, too.
What makes the Reserve so special? Alan (winner of the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia’s top wine prize) crafted it with 100% Shiraz from old, low-yielding vines grown in the renowned Clare Valley and McLaren Vale regions. These gnarled heirlooms offer precious little fruit, but the grapes they do produce pack a serious punch of rich, concentrated flavor. Back in the winery, Alan finished the wine with aging in fine oak barrels.
As you’ll taste, it’s a recipe for excellence. The Black Stump Reserve is elegant and well structured, with luscious blackberry, mocha-spice and subtle vanilla aromas and flavors. Rounded tannins introduce a silky-smooth finish and make this Shiraz an ideal partner for roasted meats, hearty barbecue and more. No wonder it won 90 points and a gold medal at two top wine competitions.
