Chateau Le Monteil d'Arsac 2015

Chateau Le Monteil d'Arsac 2015
Château d’Arsac’s vineyards are split across two appellations, one of which is fabled Margaux. This acclaimed 2015 received the same treatment as their flagship Margaux, but because it comes from vines just over the border, you enjoy it for far less.

Beyond the Label

Château d’Arsac is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux’s premium Médoc region, with over 900 years of history involving lords and ladies and the whole lot. Over the centuries, much has changed – including local wine laws. That’s how Château d’Arsac’s vineyards became split across two appellations, one of which is Margaux. This fabled region produces elegant, ageworthy (and pricey!) reds that are highly sought after by collectors, especially in exceptional vintages like 2015.

Luckily for you, our local expert, Jean-Marc Sauboua, has connections throughout Bordeaux, and he was able to lockdown an exclusive shipment of this acclaimed release from Château d’Arsac. It was given the same special treatment as the château’s flagship Margaux, but because the vineyards lie just over the Margaux border, this wine is labeled as ‘Haut-Médoc’ – and costs a fraction of the price.

Château Le Monteil d’Arsac is a wonderful Cru Bourgeois (a distinction awarded annually to top-notch Médoc wines) that showcases the quality of the landmark 2015 vintage. It boasts two 90+ point scores – Wine Enthusiast called it “powerful,” and critic James Suckling remarked that it’s “a very attractive, fresh, and well-balanced Haut-Médoc.”

A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Château Le Monteil d’Arsac offers expressive black fruit and spice characters, followed by a long, complex finish. Like all fine Bordeaux, it was made to be enjoyed with food. We recommend steak medallions with a pearl onion red wine sauce or a simple, creamy mushroom risotto.

With 2015 being regarded as such an incredible vintage, wine lovers have been snapping up all the best values – and Château Le Monteil d’Arsac is one of the smartest buys we’ve seen in quite some time. Act now to secure your share.
