The Donati family are one of the most respected names in California wine and pioneers of the Central Coast region. We’ve worked with them for over a decade and are thrilled to bring you their latest Chardonnay, which has a roaring good story behind it.
While tending grapes in their Chardonnay vineyard, the Donati family and their team have spotted an unexpected visitor. A mountain lion roams along the rocky outcrop that overlooks the vines, surveying the valley and the harvesters. Inspired by this majestic creature, the Donatis have named this cuvée ‘Piedra del León,’ Spanish for ‘The Lion’s Stone.’
Left unoaked to allow its pure fruit flavors to shine, this Chardonnay is crisp, elegant, and beautifully refreshing. You’re in for layers of vibrant orchard fruit (think Golden Delicious apple and yellow pear), plus hints of white peach and citrus. Enjoy a chilled glass on its own or serve alongside grilled white meats, light seafood dishes, creamy pastas, and more. (Your pairing options are wide open—Chardonnay of this caliber is quite food-friendly.)
At under $20 a bottle, this boutique California Chardonnay offers great value, too. You know what to do.
