Coda di Volpe means ‘tail of the fox’—a cunningly appropriate name for a rust-colored grape that grows in long bunches resembling a fox’s bushy tail. It’s been used to make wine in Campania since ancient times because it thrives in the region’s volcanic soils. And thanks to innovative local winemakers, it’s enjoyed something of a revival since the 1970s.
This charming release has a 92-point rating from critic James Suckling, who offered this mouthwatering tasting note: “Lots of lime and dried-lemon aromas with spices and stones. It’s full-bodied, layered and bright. Fruity and dry at the end. A beauty.”
