Beyond the Label

This luxurious Gran Reserva was crafted by fifth-generation Rioja winemakers Victor and David Manzanos, who are set on continuing their family’s 125-year history of impressive quality. We think they’re succeeding deliciously – and we’re not the only ones …

Their smooth and perfectly mature Gran Reserva sports a history of major acclaim – the 2001 release won a top international gold medal, landed on Harper’s prestigious “10X10 Rioja Top 100” list (where leading Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers called it “fresh, poised, and elegant”), and earned a ‘Superior’ 17 out of 20 score from JancisRobinson.com. And this new edition, courtesy of Rioja’s ‘Very Good’ 2008 vintage, is every bit as impressive.

Starring estate-grown, old-vine Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano, it was aged three years in top-notch French and American barrels (with another six-plus years in bottle) and ripples with ripe red fruit, warm vanilla-spice, and dark chocolate flavors. Eleven years old and drinking beautifully now, it will shine with roasted lamb, game-meat stews, and more.

Strictly limited availability – first come, first served.
