Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino 1995
Brunello is one of the world’s finest, most age-worthy reds. The best start hitting their stride at 10 to 20 years of age. But it’s rare to find beautifully mature examples with perfect provenance. Which is what makes this one so very special.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Beyond the Label

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the world’s finest, most age-worthy reds. The best start hitting their stride at 10 to 20 years of age. But it’s rare to find beautifully mature examples with perfect provenance. Which is what makes this one so very special …

Last year, our Italian specialist Leonardo heard about a man working at an ancient property, quietly making some of Montalcino’s longest-lived reds. The estate produced hugely celebrated wines in the 16th century. And when Leo secured a visit to Pierluigi Tagliabue’s Villa Poggio Salvi, he was completely blown away by the quality.

After sampling dozens of Library Releases, Leo singled out the 1995 Brunello as one of his top picks. And it gets better.

Decanter hailed 1995 as “an excellent vintage with noteworthy wines.” And Wine Spectator rated Pierluigi’s 92 points, with this rave review: “Big and powerful. Plum skin, berry and incense aromas. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Best Poggio Salvi I have ever had.”

The time has come to enjoy it – though Pierluigi says it’ll be great through 2030. Definitely one for the cellar, or your next very special meal.
