Best Rosé Wines to Sip All Summer Long

If you are looking for the best summer wines, rosé has to be top of the list. Sipping a pretty pink wine in an elegant glass is the perfect way to spend a warm summer’s day. Whether enjoying a glass at a cookout with friends or taking a quiet moment to enjoy a glorious sunset, sipping rosé is a summer experience not to be missed.

What Is Rosé Wine?

When choosing the best summer rosé wine, there are several things to consider.

Rosé wines are versatile and come in various shades of color, flavors and styles; they can be still, sparkling or in-between (semi-sparkling) and wonderfully sweet or dry as a bone. Plus, the pink hues can range from a pale orange (similar to onion skin) to a deep pink, depending on how the wine is made and the grapes used.

Rosé is a standalone delight but also a great match for various summer dishes, from fresh salads, tapas, and seafood platters to creamy pasta.

Where Is Rose Wine Made?

France is a dominant producer of pale, delicate, deliciously dry rosé wines, with the Provence region leading the way, followed by the Rhône Valley, Loire Valley and Bordeaux. Neighboring Spain produces some great rosé wines in the Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions, to name but two.

Europe doesn’t have the stronghold on rosé production, though, as U.S. states such as California are producing some immaculate rosés. The Golden State is also famed for its luscious White Zinfandel (a sweeter style of rosé).
