An Iconic Jets Tradition Captured in a Bottle

That iconic chant is one of the most goosebump-inducing traditions in all of sports, embodying everything that makes Jets fandom unique. Fittingly, the latest release of Jets Uncorked Cabernet features those four letters and its powerful chant on proud display. But it’s what’s inside the bottle that really counts.

Few winemakers could be trusted to capture the thrill of Jets fandom. But William “Bill” Knuttel is one of California’s most renowned winemakers, and he did just that. With over 40 vintages under his belt, Bill knows where all the best grapes are in California’s top regions—and how to craft powerful, age-worthy wines.

Earlier this year, we visited Bill in Sonoma. To show us the vines where he sourced the Cabernet for Jets Uncorked, he had to buzz us through the gates at one of the top vineyards in Sonoma’s prized Alexander Valley subregion.

After a winding drive up a long hill on gravel roads, we followed Bill to a gorgeous, sunny vineyard. True to form, he immediately started pulling away leaves to inspect this year’s crop.

He then explained what makes Cabernet from Alexander Valley so exceptional. An ample amount of warmth and bright sun helps the grapes achieve a wide range of ripe fruit flavors— with cooling winds off the Pacific Ocean and the nearby Russian River locking in freshness.

In the cellar, Bill aged the wine for 15 months in the finest oak barrels to soften the tannins. The palate is packed with intense flavors of raspberry, black currant and fresh plum. The finish is long, offering notes of chocolate plus hints of sage and thyme. It’s a wine that is right at home on game day, whether you’re pairing it with tailgate favorites off the grill or sipping it on its own.

Jets Uncorked Legacy Cabernet will only improve with age, making it a collectible item you can actually drink ten years (or more) down the line…if you can wait that long! We suggest stashing a couple in your wine fridge or cellar and setting aside a few for the holidays, too. It also makes a great gift for Jets fans.
