Beyond the Label

Are you ready to drink ahead of the curve? Complex, elegant red blends are true Sicilian specialties—but it’s still difficult to find them in the U.S. Lucky for you, our friend (and talented winemaker), Filippo Mangione, has sent a special shipment of this brilliant example.

Filippo named Armagia after the traditional stone piles in his vineyards on the slopes of Mount Etna (Sicily’s largest volcano and where you’ll find the island’s finest wines). His precious old vines yield few grapes, but the bunches they do produce are intensely concentrated. After selecting the best parcels, Filippo opted for a classic blend of native Sicilian stars Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio.

In the cellar, Filippo aged the wine for 18 months in chestnut barrels. Look forward to delicate cherry and plum flavors, supported by wild herb, tobacco leaf and mineral notes. Like many Sicilian reds, Armagia has the firm tannins and vibrant acidity to complement richer dishes, such as roasted red meats or hearty pastas.

Although Sicilian red blends like Armagia are gaining popularity, they remain something of a local secret. Order now to be among the first to taste this elegant release.
