Barón de Barbón Gran Reserva 2010

Barón de Barbón Gran Reserva 2010
Father-son team Julián and Javier Murúa craft some of our best-selling Rioja wines. We can’t wait for you to taste their luxurious Gran Reserva, aged 30 months in barrel and three years in bottle for layers of mellow, spicy, red-fruit flavor.

Wine Flavor Profile
Barón de Barbón is a medium- to full-bodied red with powerful plum and berry aromas and flavors, supported by touches of truffle and nutmeg. On the palate, silky tannins frame the long, mellow finish.
Beyond the Label

Gran Reservas epitomize classic Rioja. Famed for their extended aging period (at least two years in oak and three in bottle) and resulting characteristics – elegant, mellow, and filled with smooth flavors of earthy spice – they’re released at their delicious peaks.

This rare, limited-edition version one comes from the officially ‘excellent’ 2010 vintage (given 94 Wine Spectator points for producing “ripe, balanced wines” that are “fresh and focused”). The winemakers? None other than father-son team, Julián and Javier Murúa – the men behind our best-selling regular Riojas.

Their luxurious Gran Reserva is made from ancient Tempranillo vines, planted on the highest slopes of the family’s perfectly positioned, terraced vineyards. These old plots yield grapes of complex flavors – but only after years of patience (and back-breaking labor). That’s what makes the modest price tag all the more amazing.

After 30 months in barrel and three years in bottle, Barón de Barbón Gran Reserva is beautifully mature and drinking beautifully. Look forward to powerful plum and berry fruit flavors with an earthy truffle and nutmeg complexity and lingering finish. A perfect partner for roasted lamb, smoked cheeses, and more.

The Murúas only crafted tiny amounts of this exceptional red, so please don’t delay your order.
