From the Sonoma estate of Academy Award winner (and long-time wine buff) Francis Ford Coppola comes this excellent-vintage California Cabernet. Crafted by Corey Beck, Café Zoetrope is an eponymous homage to Coppola’s Italian-inspired San Francisco eatery.
“So naturally, this is a wine we made with a big Italian-style feast in mind,” says Corey. He and his team cherry-picked the Cab grapes from top-sited vineyards across California’s Central Coast, where 2018 has gone down in history as yet another superlative harvest. Time mellowing out in French oak barrels adds an inviting spice note to all that intense fruit flavor—rich black currant, ripe plums, blackberry and more.
At the actual Café Zoetrope, Corey’s tribute Cab may be served with spaghetti alla carbonara classico (made with guanciale, egg, ground black pepper and Pecorino Romano)—but lasagna or even a simple pizza margherita will also fit the bill. Dig in today…
