Now here’s something really special: The rich, morello cherry-flavored Edizione Limitata Numerata Chianti Numero 3 Particella is a declassified Chianti Classico, meaning, it’s made with Sangiovese from a top estate in Chianti Classico’s premium Conca d’Oro, but it cannot legally use the designated title because it doesn’t adhere completely to the region’s strict rules.
And even more exciting is that the rebellious little bottle comes to us courtesy of legendary winemaker Franco Bernabei and son Matteo, who just happen to be some of our best pals in the Tuscan locale.
When Franco learned he could score the grapes from the same area as the famed Fontodi estate, he tipped off Leonardo (our resident wine expert) and generously offered to make us an exclusive wine we could offer at an insiders-only price. The catch? We had to promise not to reveal any of the sourcing details.
We thought it’d be downright silly to refuse.
On the palate, you can expect something a bit richer, smoother and silkier than a traditional Chianti, with ample, ripe fruit flavors of morello cherry, raspberry and plum. Delicious now, it also has the potential to age for years to come.
As you may expect, our stocks are extremely limited, so act soon if you want to secure some.
