Thirty years ago, FOX News began a remarkable journey—and loyal viewers like you have been there every step of the way. Made exclusively for the FOX News Wine Shop, FOX News 30th Anniversary Sonoma Chardonnay will help you celebrate this incredible milestone in delicious style.
Our journey to craft this impeccable wine led us to Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, home to some of California’s best Chardonnay. This region benefits from moderate temperatures, a long growing season and cool morning fog, which together give grapes ample time to ripen while retaining wonderful freshness.
We tapped our good friend William Knuttel to handle winemaking. Bill is a both a Napa and Sonoma icon with decades of expertise, including stints at the legendary Saintsbury and Chalk Hill wineries. And he certainly lived up to his reputation…
If you’re into “wine speak,” you’ll be pleased to know that Bill treated this Chardonnay to barrel fermentation, lees stirring and 12 month’s aging in French oak barrels. Translation: These are time-intensive, quality-focused techniques that give the wine roundness, smoothness and delectable hints of vanilla and toasted oak.
You’ll also pick up vibrant notes of citrus blossom, lemon zest, ripe pear and golden apple. Lively and balanced, this special-release Chardonnay is incredibly versatile with food and will pair well with anything from buttery lobster to herb-roasted chicken to creamy autumnal soups.
