Beyond the Label

Oregon’s prized Willamette Valley is famous for Pinot Noir that rivals fine red Burgundy in elegance and class. It’s also hitting its stride with Burgundy’s other noble grape, Chardonnay. As wine writer Eric Asimov notes, “Oregon seems to have found its own groove [with Chardonnay], pursuing a leaner style, with lively acidity and plenty of nuances.”

Unlike the reds, prices haven’t skyrocketed for Willamette’s fine whites. And thanks to our strong relationships in the region, you’ll have the inside track to secure an exclusive bottle at an even friendlier price.

See, one of the biggest names in Willamette was looking to make space in their cellar, so they called us up to see if we’d be interested in taking some of their premium white off their hands. And we were very impressed with what we tasted.

The only catch? We couldn’t reveal their identity, or else risk upsetting their customers who pay top dollar. Simply mentioning their prestigious awards or coveted spot in one of Willamette’s premier subregions could give it away. Just one sip and there will be no doubt that this is a stylish, top-quality Chardonnay. Judges at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition loved it so much, they awarded it a gold medal.

Like all their wines, this release was made with the utmost care. The fruit was hand-picked and hand-sorted, then the wine was aged in fine French oak for a year. The aromas of crisp apple, ripe melon, and fresh-cut pear are framed by nutty nuance and they all continue onto the marvelously smooth, seriously fresh palate. It’s wonderful on its own and delicious with farmhouse chicken, lobster, and Oregon-favorite wood-plank salmon.

Very limited cases from this one-time-only deal.
