Flavor Profile
Most wine fans associate great American winemaking with the West Coast, but they need to take another look at Texas. Led by dedicated, quality-focused winemakers like Bob Landon of Landon Winery, Texas produces world-class wines that should be on every enthusiast’s radar.
It’s not a new trend, either. Texas was one of the first states to plant Vitis vinifera, the grape species used for fine winemaking (like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay). Spanish missionaries started growing vines all the way back in the 1660s—more than 100 years before anyone in California cultivated wine grapes. Though the wine industry ground to a halt during Prohibition, as it did across the U.S., things revved back up in the late 20th century. Today, Texas is America’s fifth-largest wine producer.
Landon Winery “Legacy” Trois Blancs hails from Landon Winery. Founded in 2005 by renowned winemaker Bob Landon, it started as a humble, one-man show and has grown into one of Texas’ most prominent producers. Landon has several locations across north Texas, a whole team of talented winemakers, a first-class staff of wine educators guiding visitors in each tasting room and a trophy cabinet full of awards from major wine shows and critics.
This elegant white wine is dry and crisp, with vibrant notes of stone fruit, orange zest, brioche and minerality. Wonderfully refreshing on its own, it also pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled tilapia and more.
