Ricella Alta Gavi 2020

Ricella Alta Gavi 2020
For many, Gavi is Italy’s finest white, and this stunning example hails from the talented Claudio Manera. Crafted with handpicked Cortese grown in a historic estate’s vineyards, it brims with vibrant pear, green apple and white blossom characters.

Wine Details

Beyond the Label

For many, Gavi is Italy’s finest white. It centers on the unique Cortese grape variety, grown only in Italy and almost exclusively in the premium region of Piedmont, where it thrives in the region’s chalky limestone soils and cool maritime climate. As you’ll taste here, the masterful Claudio Manera knows just how to coax out its delicate flavors and vibrant character.

Claudio sourced the Cortese for this tasty white from a historic estate that dates back to 1670. Owned by the Occhetti family for three generations, it boasts several vineyards planted with ancient vines, resulting in low yields but intensely concentrated grapes. Claudio handpicked the ripest grapes then cool fermented the lot, a technique that locks in all the enticing aromas and flavors you’ll only find in top Gavi.

With its zippy pear, green apple and white blossom aromas and crisp, citrus-mineral palate, this is the perfect wine to serve guests as an aperitivo. It can pair with dinner too, and all the better if seafood’s on the menu—Gavi was originally produced to be served in local Ligurian seafood restaurants, as a refreshing, fish-friendly wine.

To preserve his strict quality standards, Claudio makes his Gavi in very tiny batches. Secure your share while our limited stocks last.
