Flavor Profile
For a cool, crisp Pinot Grigio that stands out, look no further than Sentiero dei Pini. Crafted by local legend (and Italian Pinot Grigio supremo) Giuseppe Secchi, it delivers vibrant lemon and green apple flavors that seem to dance across the palate.
The irresistibly fresh white has a track record of acclaim and receives glowing reviews vintage after vintage. Just a glass of the stuff makes it easy to see why it has earned such a fanbase…but there’s more to it than just great taste.
It comes from a rather remarkable historic site. Once the location of an ancient Roman temple that was reached by a winding, tree-lined path (‘Sentiero dei Pini’ means ‘trail of the pines’), its hilltop situation gave Roman legions the perfect vantage point before heading deep into mountainous terrain. Today, this precious plot is occupied by carefully tended Pinot Grigio vines that yield incredibly fresh whites. And Guiseppe has the first pick of the grapes.
Look forward to orchard and citrus aromas, flavors of apple, pear and citrus that lead to a long, clean finish. In fact, Gilbert & Gaillard described a previous vintage as being, “a wonderful, easy-drinking, modern wine.”
Sentiero dei Pini makes a lovely aperitivo, and is a superb match for classic antipasti, fresh seafood or crisp salads. Thirsty yet?
