As the official fan club of Turner Classic Movies, the mission of TCM Backlot is to bring you behind the scenes of Hollywood filmmaking. With a nod towards the broad world of studios, film artists, and movie stars, we’ve commissioned a smooth, fruit-forward red from California’s excellent 2017 vintage.
TCM Backlot boasts an all-star cast of leading grape varieties. Merlot constitutes the biggest portion of the recipe and imparts the velvety texture that makes this red so easy to enjoy. Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and black currant notes, while Dornfelder (a major star in Germany) and Zinfandel give dark berry flavors. There are also splashes of inky-dark Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, and Syrah.
The resulting wine overflows with complex red cherry, boysenberry, black currant, and subtle spice characters. A delicious tribute to our extended TCM family, it’ll delight on its own or with grilled lamb chops, juicy burgers, and more.
