A fitting follow-up to the glorious 2014 harvest, “the 2015 vintage is a historical year for Brunello di Montalcino that nobody should miss. The wines show impressive precision of vivid fruit, fine tannins and freshness in acidity despite their ripeness and richness which makes them some of the most exciting in years,” writes expert James Suckling.
It’s becoming difficult to find a truly great bottle, but thanks to our longstanding friendship with the Luciani family, we’ve got one for you ...
And not just any one. Luciani Brunello di Montalcino boasts a history of acclaim from top international critics. The 2015 release arrives with 93-point scores from expert Antonio Galloni, the Decanter World Wine Awards, and The Wine Advocate, plus a slew of other 90+ point ratings.
The acclaim comes as no shock, really: the Luciani clan have been crafting fine wines in Tuscany since 1888, so they’re drawing on generations of expertise. Aged 36 months in premium Slavonian oak barrels, this stunner is a perfect example of everything that critics are loving about this special year. And, like all fine-caliber Brunello, it has years of pleasure ahead of it ... if you can bear to wait that long.
Here’s The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner: “The Cantine Luciani 1888 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and sultry expression that reveals dark fruit, plum, spice and cured tobacco ... an excellent pairing with venison or other game meats. This Brunello is softly woven together and intricate, resulting in an elegant and classic rendition of Sangiovese from this beautiful corner of Tuscany.”
Between the major acclaim and the Luciani family’s quality-focused approach, it should come as no surprise that we have very limited cases of this fine Brunello. First come, first served.
